Every Monday and Tuesday, from 7pm, we meet In the lounge bar (Teviot) , to chat about philosophy. Previous topics have included what is beauty?, is God Good? Why is Murder wrong? and Is Love Valuable?
All welcome. No assumed knowledge.
Every Thursday during term, from 6pm, a Visiting Speaker delivers a talk for PhilSoc. We bring experts from all over the country to present their ideas. The talks are always lively and provocative, as are the Q+A sessions...
During the week we also have reading groups and extra seminars. They are often course specific, to help you get ahead on your course, although we have also run "general interest" reading circles too... Email us to find out more.
We also hold weekends away, film nights, debates, day trips, organise conferences, art events, music events... and run our own Members Library on campus.
Membership £7, includes free entry to all our events, and access to our library and internet resources.
